Spring time at Cherry Hinton Hall (16th Feb): hazel catkins (‘lamb’s tails’) are lengthening – one of the native shrubs that would have grown here for centuries, when it was oak/ash woodland, well before the Hall was here! Hazel provided food for red squirrels and dormouse (alas long gone). The only sound at 8am…..a Green Woodpecker calling.
