7th Meeting, 21 March 2012

The 17th meeting was held on Wednesday, 21 March 2012.

The guest speaker for the March 2012 meeting was Guy Belcher, Cambridge City Council Nature Conservation Projects Officer. Guy was there in particular to answer questions on the various works recently undertaken including the hedge removal and clearance of the brook from the duck pond down to Daws Lane. However, Guy gave us a fascinating insight into the very special nature of the watercourse and the strategy Guy and other nature conversationalists are keen to adopt as part of the Cherry Hinton Hall masterplan – in short to re-establish the brook as one of only 200 or so chalk streams left in the world, with particular wildlife dependent on the character of chalk streams.
