The 19th meeting was the AGM, and took place on Wednesday, 18 July 2012. After the business of the election of a new Committee for 2012/13, our guests included Cherry Hinton PCSOs Laura Parkinson and Marie Bailey, plus guest speaker Laura Osborne, Community Conservation Officer for the Wildlife Trusts. Laura gave us a facinating insight into the life of the glow worm, a truly remarkable creature which manages to survive in pockets across the UK against some quite daunting odds. The meeting also featured discussion on the Folk Festival, and in particular the Sky Arts Recording Studio sited over the duck pond. After the meeting, a number of the Friends accompanied Laura to East Pit off Lime Kilm Hill, and – before the rain came – were rewarded with the sight of a glow worm just off the path we were taking.
