The plans for a recording studio over the duck pond in the Cherry Hinton Hall grounds (as part of the Folk Festival 2012) caused considerable concern among the Friends with regard to the potential impact on the wildlife of a structure in this location. Certain actions were taken by the City Council in response to these concerns, and a report has been prepared by Guy Belcher, Nature Conservation Officer for the City Council, on these actions and the results of the monitoring that was undertaken. His report can be found by clicking here.
One outcome from the concerns expressed by the Friends is that, for the Folk Festival in 2013, an ecological assessment will be undertaken for the whole of the park, not just the waterways.
